Favorite bands: Rush, Iron Maiden, Emperor, Destruction, Deathrow, Exodus, Heathen, Realm, Anacrusis, Omen, Kreator, Mekong Delta, Fates Warning, Porcupine Tree, Sieges Even, Testament, Toxik, Annihilator, Living Death, Redemption, Riot, Amulance, Deadly Blessing, Abigor, Mortal Sin, Iced Earth, Flotsam & Jetsam, Sabbat, Cynic, Atheist, Pariah (UK), Sanctuary, Nevermore, Camel, IQ, Pendragon, Textures, Overkill, Megadeth, Metallica, Ayreon, Agent Steel.. etc. etc. etc.

I could go on for a while, but it's clear I hope. I could easily give a spin to some (technical) thrash metal, progressive metal, black metal, (US) power metal, death metal, nwobhm like that I love to listen to progressive/symphonic rock etc.

Why Destruction? I simply love the mixture of rawness, melodies, innovative riffs, exciting tempo's, screaming vocals, heavy parts, technical parts etc. etc. ;) It's a band that binds all the exciting stuff that metal has to offer, except for a (power) ballad :P. I like the new material just as much as the old material and I can even listen to The Least Successful Human Canonball, which has some decent riffs and nice progressive touches, but someone by the name of Thomas R. ruins the record with his forced Phil Rind/Phil Anselmo immitation. To cut a long story short, I don't believe in Neo-Destruction, just like that I don't believe in the statement that Mourning Has Broken from Sabbat isn't a Sabbat album (it is, and it's quite good). Alas, luckily Schmier and thrash came back.

My favorites would look like this: (although it can change once in a while)
1. Eternal Devastation
2. D.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N.
3. Cracked Brain
4. Sentence Of Death
5. The Antichrist
6. The Day Of Reckoning
7. Thrash Anthems
8. Release From Agony
9. Infernal Overkill
10. Mad Butcher
12. Metal Discharge
13. Inventor Of Evil
14. All Hell Breaks Loose
15. The Least Successful Human Canonball
16. Them Not Me
15. Destruction

Questions? Just ask

Hey a fellow Dutchman! If you write for metalfan I might know you, my concerts have been reviewed twice by metalfan :D

One of them was with the Gorath cd-release show (+ Cirith Gorgor and Misanthropia) in Gryphus, Vierlingsbeek. I think Martin did that one. And Michiel did a "Pokkeherrie in de polder" report at an earlier one with Massive Assault, Caedere and Grindpad at the same venue.

Yep, 4 times in a year in a small venue in Vierlingsbeek (North-Brabant). Genres differ per concert, but they get well visited while we're kinda in the middle of nowhere. No 'big' bands or something, but we've had The Monolith Deathcult, Chainsaw, Carach Angren, Onheil, Cirith Gorgor, Gorath, Dead Head, Lord Volture, The Lucifer Principle, Cliteater to name a few.

Nice bands, always good to say someone work his ass off to organize great gigs. Although I do not live there (I live in Twente), you're an example for all of those venues that simply book those horrific 2-chord rockbands. Overrated, especially De Wereld Draait Door is to blame for hyping those terrible bands.

Cool, last year I did the same. Small gig with local/small bands. I was going to do another one this year, but I got problems finding the right bands that fit our budget so I decided not to do a gig this year (or at least not before september/october). But I'll prepare another strike for the end of the year or next year!

Let me know when your next concert is, maybe I'll attend!

Very very much, however tonight Vanderbuyst apparently will be on DWDD. I love that band, so I'm curious what (minute of a) song they'll play

If you need any help finding cool bands for little budget we could figure something out, I managed to get some "contacts" over the years. I allmost never exceed the 500 euro limit and get very cool bands to play. We can discuss this further on facebook if you're interested 8)

Name: Pete

Birthday: 13. Oct. 1953

Residence: Somewhere between Europe and Africa

Hair Colour: 3 different colours, some are brown, some are grey and some are invisible, because gone

Eye Colour: Sometimes red in the morning

How Did I Start Listening To Metal? I started before metal existed LOL.
My father was a drummer in a big band, playing Goodmen, Miller, Armstrong, etc. First music I heard and still like.
I think it was 1967 or 1968 when I started to listen to more progressiv music. At this time I liked Beatles, Beach Boys, Creedance Clearwater and so on, but never got a real Stones Fan.
One day I walked to the fairground which was in our town. FALLER autoscooter had the absolute up to date sound ( i bet Schmier + Schmuddel know this name ) Well, beside all Hits I heard a band I never had heard before. I asked the DJ for the name: The band was CREAM. The title of the single was I FEEL FREE. I was a really young guy, more kid than adult. He did me a favor and played the backside of the single: SUNSHINE OF LOVE. At this moment I was electrified for good progressive stuff.
I wen´t to a friend of my brother, who was in age of about 18 and already a music maniac, and asked him about Cream. He looked to me like an 18 years old guy looks to a 13/14 years old boy when he comes with such a question LOL. But then he played for me the Cream Album and after that JIMI Hendrix. OMG.

Very short time later i met a young friend which had a band. I started to be present and helped them to fix their poor equipement. Mini Roadie with 14. Hehehe.

Short time after I started to learn a profession, made overtime, overtime, overtime like crazy - so I had all time money for concerts. I found some friends who where also concerts fanatics. So we started to be on concerts each weekend.

And from time to time i met some promoters. First they asked me to help, then they started to ask me: Do you get some friends to have a crew, so it was next step: Instead stagehand i was crewboss.

I really tried to get in regulary live, but somehow I met those promoters again. Even not purpose but after short talk they hired me.

It ended up with titles like Tourmanager, Stagemanager, Technical Director and before I stepped out of BIZ with 50 I was responsible for 392 Gigs in 1 year.

Just a few names of a number of 1000s gigs: Queen, Supertramp, Groenemeyer, Cher, etc.etc. But best of all: ROLLING STONES, Bridge over Babylon Tour. 42 Trucks equipment. Woohooo. (Honestly, I was only Co Co Co Co Stagemanager there, resp. a Crewboss, but I did one of the greatest shows on Earth) :D

A real Rock n Roll career. Which ended to be a nightmare. Burn out etc.

In all the time I never did a DESTRUCTION gig , but MIKE was sometimes beside me.
Nowerdays - since I am an old man - I like all kind of music, but very, very much DESTRUCTION

btw. pls forgive me, my English is not perfect

Music...
- Bands: Steamhammer and 100s more
- Albums: Friday Night in San Francisko
- Songs: too much
- Singers: Linking Park singer + Schmier (to collect some points here)
- Musicians too much

Worst Nightmare: Air & Style Festival Innsbruck, where 5 kids died

Countries I'd like to visit? ALL

Just copy/paste, fill and post :P

Name: Erich "The Mad Bassist" Schipper

Birthday: 1968

Residence: Portland, Oregon

Hair Colour: Brown, but covered by steel on stage

Eye Colour: Hazel, but wanting red vampire contacts!

How Did I Start Listening To Metal? I liked concept album bands when I was a kid (The Who and Boston come to mind), found Iron Maiden and Metallica around 1985 in my teenage years, and started looking for more bands playing heavy music, which led me to Destruction and Whiplash (who have some interesting parallels beyond their two matching, but unrelated songs.)

I Like...
- Food: I'd get sushi every day if I could afford it.
- Drink: Microbrews and Kraken Rum.
- Movies: Street Trash!
- Books: Lately, lots of Robert E. Howard for my tribute band.
- Season: Winter, when my hotel slows down.
- Hobbies: Playing the sub-bass for Hyborian Rage (add a .com to listen.)

Music...
- Bands: Iron Maiden, early Metallica, Death, Powermad, Iced Earth... I had alot more the first time I tried to post this, but the message board ate it from taking too long to write! I knew I should have copied before hitting Submit... so there was a long list, and of course, it included some German band called Destruction.
- Albums: Too many to think of and write about again.
- Songs: In order of most likely to cover in the future: Prowler, Phantom of the Opera, Trapped Under Ice, Disposable Heroes, Satan's Vengeance, Tormentor,
- Singers: What do you call someone who hangs out with musicians? A singer!
- Musicians: Steve Harris, Cliff Burton, John Entwistle, Stuart Hamm, Schmier, D.D. Verni, Markus Großkopf, Peavy Wagner, Steve DiGiorgio, Giovanni Bottesini, Jon Shaffer, Kai Hansen, Yngwie Malmsteen, and Niccolo Paganini!

Worst Nightmare: Finding myself surrounded by Grateful Dead fans!

Countries I'd like to visit? All of the good ones, where we can play our brand of Barbarian Metal! Someday, I want to experience Wacken and Donnington Park.
